Key Roles

Wow! Time flies! It's hard to believe this will be my sixth year as the principal of DCS. It is a great place, full of amazing students and dedicated staff. This year, I will be teaching PE 6/8, RTI 7, and Math 20-3/30-3. I am also very excited to continue the work of our High School Leadership option to make our school even better.

I was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan but grew up just outside of Sherwood Park, Alberta. I have a BEd (1993) and an MEd (2005) from the University of Alberta. My first teaching job was at Fort Saskatchewan Junior High School during the spring of 1993. While I was working in "The Fort", I was hired to teach at Eastview Community School and moved to Red Deer in August 1993. Since then, I have been proud to call Red Deer home. From 1993 - 2000, I taught Creative Writing, Drama, Environmental and Outdoor Education, Language Arts, Physical Education and Social Studies at Eastview. In September 2001, I became the vice principal at Eastview and in 2004, I got the opportunity to be the vice principal at Glendale Middle School. In 2006, my career took an interesting turn when I was transferred Grandview Elementary School. My oldest son was in kindergarten at that school and the next seven years were wonderful. I was vice principal and I taught grades 3,4, and 5. Best of all, I got to watch my children grow up in the amazing school I worked at.

My wife, Lori, is a registered nurse. We have two children. Connor is 18 and Jeff is 16. We also have a 10 year old Portuguese Water Dog/Pyrenees Cross named Tux. When I am not at the school, you will probably find me in a hockey arena or in the great outdoors. We love camping, fishing, hiking and mountain biking.

I want this school to be the best it can possibly be. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have questions or concerns!
