Plastic Bag Recycling Drive

Dear Students, Parents and Caregivers,

Grade Six and Seven students will be organizing a Plastic Bag Recycling Drive at Delburne Centralized School. Students are asked to bring in plastic bags from their homes, neighbours, family and friends during the Plastic Bag Recycling Drive. Many communities in Alberta do not accept plastic bags, as part of their recycling programs, and we’d like to offer a place to recycle plastic bags for the Village of Delburne. London Drugs in Red Deer has graciously agreed to be our partner for this project, and they will continue the recycling process for us.

Who: Grade Six and Seven students will sort all of the bags for drop off to London Drugs.

What: Plastic Bag Recycling Drive

Where: Please drop off bags to the large box outside the Main Office or to Miss Abbott or Miss Smith’s classrooms.

When: Wednesday, May 15, 2019 to Wednesday, May 29, 2019

Why: To provide citizens of Delburne and the surrounding areas a place to recycle plastic bags.

Reasons to recycle plastic bags:

  • It takes 1000 years for a plastic bag to biodegrade.
  • Recycling reduces pollution, protects our health, preserves landfill space, protects natural resources, saves energy, trees and money.

If you have questions about the Plastic Bag Recycling Drive, please email Miss Abbott (mabbott@cesd73.ca) or Miss Smith (courtneysmith@cesd73.ca). Thank you for helping the Grade Six and Seven students of Delburne Centralized School cultivate their citizenships skills and give back to our community.
