A big thank you to everyone for your support of the Delburne Centralized School.
As I enter my sixth year as Principal of DCS, our school focus is "Getting Better" at everything we do.
As I look around the school, I am proud to see my fingerprints starting to appear on the school culture. Delburne Centralized School is a great place to spend my days. In previous years, our broad goals of Redesign and Our School helped us create a more personalized learning environment for students. I am incredibly proud of our high school completion rate and I know that a significant number of our graduates are continuing their education through post-secondary institutions and trades. Our staff genuinely knows and cares about our students, which makes it nearly impossible to "slip through the cracks".
School redesign, in the form of Middle Skills and Skills for Me time, will continue this year. By assessing, regrouping, and targeting academic skills, I am confident that we are creating a personalized learning environment for all students. As a result, our primary focus for this school year is TEAM. Our staff are organized into distinct teaching teams (Early Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School, High School). These teams have time built into their week to address student concerns, plan interventions, and analyze student progress.
A second goal for me during this school year is to engage our parents and community in the school. We have several wonderful partnerships that I hope to expand. I am also very keen to provide opportunities for parents and community members to volunteer their time and connect with the school.
It's going to be a great year!
Principal, Delburne Centralized School
