2019 GRADUATION BANQUET & CEREMONIES!

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Following is information regarding our plans for Grad 2019, which will be held Friday, May 24th at the Delburne Community Hall.

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BE AT THE HALL AT 4:45 FOR THE GROUP PHOTO.

The banquet commences at 5:30 pm. The Grad Fee pays for the students’ meals. Cost for parents/guardians is $20 each. The banquet is for grade twelve students, their parents/guardians and Delburne school staff.

The Exercises will begin at 7:30 pm. Because of fire regulations, we must restrict the number of guests at the exercises: therefore each grad will be issued sixteen guest tickets. We are aware how difficult it is to limit guests because so many friends and relatives wish to share the achievements of our young people, however, we cannot overcrowd the hall.

We will attempt to reserve the first rows at the exercises for parents and grandparents only so please ask your guests to cooperate in this seating plan.

We will have  a rehearsal at the hall on Wednesday, May 22th at 12:30 pm. This is for students only-hopefully they can give their parents instructions for grad night. This is important to attend. We will be decorating the hall after rehearsal.

Finally, we need parents to help with the clean up after the dance. All decorations must be dismantled and taken to the school that night. Parents may take personal decorations such as baby pictures home.

GRAD TIMELINE

October :   Start gathering items for silent auction

Think about colours, songs, decorating theme (motif)

 

November :   Gather items for silent auction, bring in to Robin (Main Office)

Begin grad meetings Tuesdays during PLT (will start to make decisions regarding colours and songs)

Bring in baby picture and slideshow pictures

Pay $50 grad fee-part of school fees (check with parents or Mrs.Odowichuk to see if you have paid this)

Optional-Purchase yearbook ($45.00) on your school fee statement

Sign up for committees

Go over high school diploma credentials with Ms.Ray

 

December:    December 7th Grad Fundraiser

Continue with meetings and decisions

 

January:   Study Study Study

 

February:  Grad Photo Days - February 13 & 14

Start committee work (decorations, invitations, programs banquet etc.)

 

March:     Continue committee work

        

April:        Determine valedictorian and speeches

Pay banquet fees ($20 per parent/guardian)

Continue committee work

Pick up invitations and guest tickets from Ms.Ray

 

May:       Wednesday May 23rd-Rehearsal for all grads at the hall at 12:30. Decorating at the hall following rehearsal

Friday May 24th-GRAD

4:45 Group Photo at the hall

5:30 Banquet

7:30 Exercises and Dance to follow

Hello Grads and Parents,

The DCS sanctioned grad fundraiser is December 7th, 2018. Preparations for graduation will begin in earnest. We have met with our grads today to discuss fundraising for the big event. Our fundraising will consist of a dinner with an Alumni Hockey Game, Silent Auction, Raffle Table and Puck Chuck. If all students participate in this fundraiser and sell their tickets, it will be the only fundraising we will have to do, as the grad fundraiser has been quite successful in previous years.

What you need to know:

  • Every student is expected to attend this event, and sign up for jobs before and during the event.
  • Students will be expected to help with preparations the night before and the day of the event.
  • Every student will be asked to sell tickets.
  • Every student will be asked to try to get donations for our Silent Auction/Raffle Table. Cash donations are very helpful as well!
  • If you sell 8 tickets… your ticket will be taken care of. If you do not think you can sell all of your tickets to your friends and family, start asking teachers and other school staff.

Donations for the Silent Auction/Raffle Table should be delivered to Robin Ritchie, Silent Auction Coordinator. Keep track of who the donations are from, so we can acknowledge the donors.

Money for tickets can be given to Mrs. Smith

We are looking forward to another successful fundraising event. Remember this is your grad, so it is your job to make this successful. We are here to organize and help!

Tickets available from the Grads or DCS Main Office.

This is the ONLY Delburne School sanctioned fundraiser for Grad 2019.
